17th June 2022

Don’t miss this week...

A very warm end to another brilliant week in school.  The children coped extremely well in such high temperatures and showed both patience and resilience in the heat.

We have enjoyed running parent tours for families who joined the school during the pandemic and being able to show them some of the parts of the school that they haven’t been able to visit.  We will run one last parent tour this year on Wednesday 6th July at 5pm, which is open to parents of children in any year group who would just like an opportunity to visit and look around the school again.

PTFA – Summer Fair Saturday 2nd July 2.00 – 5.00 p.m. (free entry)

  1. Candyfloss, welly wanging, balloon modelling, tennis, beat the goalie, craft activities and more!  Come and enjoy a Pimms or a cup of tea and cake, wander round the stalls, catch up with friends or get to know new families, have the day off cooking and treat yourself to some tasty BBQ food from the Men In Schools.
  2. We need you!  Look out for the sign up sheet at pickup/drop off or email us fulbournprimaryptfa@gmail.com if you are able to help (pre-2.00 p.m. set up/any half hour slot between 2.00 – 5.00 p.m./5.00 p.m. pack up)
  3. We are collecting good quality books, soft toys, bric-a-brac and second hand uniform.  Or fill a jam jar with treats for our ‘jolly jar’ stall.

Toucan Box Magazine

A complimentary copy of the Toucan Box magazine should have come home with your child this week. The PTFA has managed to source a copy for each child in the school, worth over £1000, for the grand total of £4.95! We hope you enjoy them.

We are part of a schools partnership programme with Toucan and the PTFA receives a donation whenever someone subscribes to their craft boxes using our fundraising link: https://toucanbox.com/taster?code=SCH45SE...

Men In Schools – School Camp 9th/10th July – DEADLINE TODAY!

Thanks to those of you that have already signed up for this year’s camp, we have over 200 people set to come.  For those that are planning to, but haven’t yet, today is your last chance.  Once we have the full list we will be sending out a mail with more information, including how to pay.

Run by the Men In Schools group, the camp is for all the family and takes place on the edge of Fulbourn Fen nature reserve.  We organise competitions, games and workshops.  There is food from the BBQ, a campfire, marshmallows. Guitar playing and almost certainly water fights!  In short, it’s a whole lot of Fun for everyone (we have tents which those without can use for the weekend).  Sign up here:  https://forms.gle/EvpDhBbBwxL17Eom8 (the form has lots more information and some nice photos).

Keeping the site safe

Please help us to continue to keep our school site safe by not letting anyone through the gates behind you when you arrive at or leave the site.  Please ask other visitors to ring the bell and a member of staff will welcome them onto site.  Thank you for your help.

Appointments during school time

If you need to collect your child to take them to an appointment during the school day, please ensure that you notify the office staff and your child’s teacher beforehand.

Teacher Recommends

Each week in the newsletter, a different teacher will recommend a favourite book.  How many will you have read?

Miss Meyer recommends The Girl who Lost a Leopard, Nizrana Farook.  She says “Nizrana Farook is a truly wonderful storyteller, and this is her third adventure story.  Set in Sri Lanka, it tells the story of Selvi, an independent and fierce girl who spends her days roaming the mountains behind her home with her friend, Lokka the Leopard.  But when the hunters come for Lokka, Selvi knows she needs to act ….. and fast!

Well suited for upper KS2, or lower KS2 as an adult-read bedtime story.”

Community Noticeboard

Don’t forget to visit the Community Noticeboard page on our website for information about local clubs, organisations and events.  Just added is information from Fulbourn Library about Story Time tomorrow, Bottisham Swimming Club,  and also news about the Fulbourn Gardening Society Annual show, which includes competitions for juniors.  You can also find more information about Kids R Us Summer Holiday activities.  Kids R Us will be offering the HAF scheme for eligible families over the summer.
