Fulbourn Primary School

Dare to Discover

7th January 2022

Don’t miss this week...

  • Children’s flu vaccine catch-up clinics
  • New Travelling to and from school alone policy for year 5 and 6
  • New after school clubs with JS Sports and Sting Performing arts

Welcome back to the new school term.  It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome all of your children back into school this week.  Whilst we are prepared for potential challenges related to the pandemic this term, we are also looking forward optimistically to what 2022 will bring for Fulbourn Primary School and its community.

One of our first projects this year is to review the school’s communication strategy.  We will be surveying all families to gather your views but would also like to establish a working party.  If you have some experience or expertise in this area and capacity to support the school with this project, please contact the school office and we will be in touch.

We also thought the new year would be a good time to reintroduce some of the staff that work around our school.

Message from the PTFA

It's a new year and a new term and we would love to meet with you to discuss future events! We've created a doodle poll to try and find a meeting time that suits most people. Please have a look at the link below and click on times that would work for you. Other users will not be able to see your name or choices and filling it in does not mean you are committing to anything. The venue will be my house and if its daytime, you are welcome to bring your children. Come and have a cup of tea and share your ideas with us! We'll let you know the meeting time next week.

Travelling to and from school alone policy

The School has produced a new policy to cover children who will travel to and from school alone.  Parents/carers are able to seek permission for children in years 5 and 6 to travel to and from school alone and the policy includes a link to the form needed to apply for permission, which can also be found here on our school website.  As a school we want to encourage a healthy lifestyle, whilst ensuring the safety of our pupils and we hope that the new policy will strike a balance in both of these respects.

From Monday 17th January, only children in year 5 and 6 who have completed the permission process will be able to travel to and from school alone.  Current arrangements will continue until that date.

A big thank you to all families for being so punctual for the new gate opening times which appear to be working well.  Please feel free to use the gates on St Vigor’s Road to exit the site.  This will really help us to reduce footfall on the path at the back of the school which is becoming extremely muddy!
