Dare to Discover

Friday 26th November 2021

Some highlights from this week

This week the children have enjoyed lots of practical learning, both outside and indoors! Upper School children have enjoyed making some treats to help them with their instruction writing, Middle and Lower School have been doing some practical maths, and in EYFS the children have loved showing their creativity using their new easel!

Parent Survey – November 2021

A reminder to complete this term’s parent survey as it will close on Monday evening.  There are just seven short questions and this time we would particularly like your views on what parent workshops you would like the school to run this academic year.  Thank you in advance for your time.

Christmas Decorations

Next week, we will begin getting into the Christmas spirit - learning Christmas carols, rehearsing for nativities and beginning to make the school look and feel a bit Christmassy.  If you have any good quality Christmas decorations that you are no longer using, we would love to give them a new home at school.  Unfortunately, we cannot use old Christmas lights or glass baubles for safety reasons.  We will place a box outside the school office next week for any decorations you would like to donate.

Christmas Performances

Our Reception and Lower School children are all busy working on Christmas plays and developing their performance skills.  Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to invite parents into school to watch these performances this year as we continue to prioritise keeping our community safe.  We will however record these performances so that you can share these at home with your families and more information about this will be coming soon.

PTfA Carols and Cakes

Please come along a little early on Friday 10th December and let the school choirs get you in the mood for Christmas.  We will also be selling cakes and raffle tickets for our Christmas Hampers, so don’t forget to bring some cash!

Just a reminder that lower school are collecting RED items, middle school GREEN and upper school WHITE/SNOWMAN THEMED items for the hampers and we would be really grateful for your contributions.

We would also love some volunteers to help us sell raffle tickets and cakes on the day.  If you would like to help, please email us at fulbournprimaryptfa@gamil.com

Christmas Lunch

We hope that your child will join us in having a Christmas lunch at school on 9th December – please see the menu below:

Fulbourn Winter Festival

JS Sports – Christmas Camp

JS Sports will be running a Christmas Sports Camp at Fulbourn Primary School on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd December.  We will send booking information shortly.

Packed Lunches

Thank you for supporting the school by not including citrus fruits or nuts/products containing nuts in the children’s lunchboxes.  Please can we ask that if your child has grapes in their packed lunch, you cut these in half, as whole grapes can be a choking hazard for children.  Please can we also ask that you remove the wax cover from Babybel cheeses, too, as this is very sticky when trodden into the floor and difficult to clean.

Cycling in the School Grounds

A reminder that our no cycling in the school grounds rule applies to parents and children. Parents,  if not leaving them in the bike store, please push your cycles around school at drop off and pick up times.  Thank you.

Job Opportunities working with Children and Young People with Disabilities

This message comes from the Community Support Service:

Are you looking for an opportunity to work with Children and Young People with Disabilities? I am part of the recruitment team for the Community Support Service and CamPlay run by Cambridgeshire County Council.

The Community Support Service and CamPlay provide short breaks to Children and Young People with additional needs, aged 0-18 years, as part of the Cambridgeshire Local Offer for Children and Young People with Disabilities. We offer support in the home and community, Saturday Clubs, Community Clubs and Holiday Clubs throughout the county of Cambridgeshire. We are always looking for enthusiastic staff to join our team!

We are continuing to support Children and Young People and their families throughout the COVID 19 pandemic as it widely recognised that children with disabilities need to continue having positive experiences in the community whilst parents/carers have much needed respite. To read more please click here: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/news/community-support-service-continues-to-provide-support-to-children-and-young-people

We are currently recruiting for both services on a relief contract basis. The flexible nature of the job provides a way of ‘topping up’ hours in holidays, after school, weekends and evenings. We also provide a comprehensive training programme and support in working with Children and Young People with a wide range of Learning and Physical Disabilities, which are skills that can be brought back to your existing job. We are based at Buttsgrove Centre, but have work available across Cambridgeshire county.

Please find our recruitment poster attached. If you would be interested in applying or have any questions, please get in touch on Community.SupportServices@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or 01480 379800.
