As a school body, we would like to salute you all for everything you are doing to support your children to learn. Pupil engagement at home and in school has been brilliant and we are so grateful that you are supporting us to help your children learn. We are stronger together and this last week has shown that our school community is fantastic.
We are arranging for blank exercise books that parents/carers can come and collect for home learners if you would like them.
There will be crates left outside the office gate (or under the bike shelter by the pre-school building if it is raining). They will be out between 10am and 2pm on Monday and Tuesday next week. Each crate will be labelled with the year group. Please take a maths book and a writing book from the relevant crate for each child (the books in each crate are different so please make sure you are taking the books that are correct for your child’s year group). For Reception children there is one blank book only.
Please be very careful about social distancing. Whilst there might be the temptation to have a chat with fellow parents, we'd like to remind you of the strict social distancing recommendations in place at the moment. Please keep your distance from each other.
On behalf of the entire administration and leadership team, we would like to thank our families for the very kind messages of support that we have received this week. We haven’t been able to reply to all of them, but they are all deeply appreciated. Whilst you did not want to receive emails at 10:30pm, we certainly didn’t want to be sending them then. But your support, understanding and patience has made a significant difference. Thank you.

The Cambridgeshire County Council has redesigned their online form for families wishing to check their free school meal (FSM) and Pupil Premium eligibility. Significant improvements made to the online application process enable parents/carers (in most cases) to get an instant result of the outcome of their application.
It is not necessary for parents of children who currently receive FSM to reapply; this entitlement is protected until the end of March 2022. However, applications do need to be made for younger siblings who are starting school.
The form is quick and simple to complete. Once an application has been submitted for a child, if the family do not qualify at that point, we will continue to check for future entitlement throughout that child’s school life, informing parents if they become eligible. It is vital, therefore, that schools/families inform us of any changes to their name or address.

The Cambridgeshire County Council’s Winter Support Grant is available to help any family who may need extra support. This website has more information and links to the claim form. We are extremely excited to be recruiting a Pastoral Lead.
In this role you will lead a team of support staff to enhance pupil wellbeing and assist in tackling underachievement by working in partnership with families, carers and children. You will lead and support enrichment throughout the school, including forest school. As Pastoral Lead you will lead family learning initiatives, set up and lead therapeutic and academic focus groups such as nurture groups, forest school, gardening and homework clubs and will coach staff in restorative behaviour practices.
We are open to applications from candidates with experience in a range of relevant fields. Including: education, social care, counselling and youth or family work.

Although this year has started with a new set of challenges, stresses and pressures, we have received some good news regarding PTfA fundraising. We have been on the waiting list for the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme (funded by Groundworks) for some time and we have been on hold during the Covid pandemic as funding has been redirected to those in dire need. I am pleased to confirm that we have now received a £1,000 donation from the scheme which will go directly into the PTfA fundraising pot. This is an amazing boost at the start of another tough year for our fundraising capabilities and I would like to thank Katie Morrish for setting up the application way back when she was Chair of the PTfA. Thanks Katie!
