Fulbourn Cricket Club - Courses for Children
Fulbourn Cricket Club is running several courses in the summer term for children. We have something for all age groups. Once again, we will be running our All Stars (5-8 year olds, recommended for Y1-3) and Dynamos (8-11 year olds, recommended for Y4-6) on Friday evenings from 10th May. These give a great intro to the sport using a soft ball. Sign-up is via the ECB website at https://www.ecb.co.uk/play/all-stars (enter your postcode to find the events and express an interest, early-bird registration should open on or around 12th March). We have a capacity limit on both courses so please book soon to avoid disappointment.
This year we are also running an under-12s squad for children who wish to progress to hard-ball cricket. This is primarily aimed at Y6-Y7 children but might be of interest to confident Y5 children who might have some previous cricket experience. Children can do this AND Dynamos! We typically run training sessions on Sunday afternoons and have matches against local villages throughout the term. This squad is entirely managed by the club so if your child is interested, please contact Jez at jezmajor@hotmail.com to find out more.
All squads are for girls and boys.
We are a local grassroots football club in Cambridge and we are looking for new female players of all ages to add to our existing girls teams. We currently have six teams with girls aging from 8 to 15 years old.
Exercise is so important for everybody, but for children especially in this growing digital world. Football particularly aids children with their communication, teamwork, and overall confidence.

NHS Pharmacy First Service
Did you know that the NHS Pharmacy First Service enables children and adults to get convenient access to healthcare advice and treatment where appropriate, for seven common conditions without the potential delay of having to wait for a GP appointment? Accessing the service may mean that we can help children feel better and get back to school as quickly as possible, as well as supporting parents/carers to also get better if they are unwell with one of the conditions covered under the service.
There is no need to make an appointment; parents or carers can pop into their local Boots pharmacy with their child and ask for help under the service.
Support for the following conditions can be accessed under the service, free of charge (unless NHS prescription charges apply):
Common condition |
Patient eligibility |
Earache |
1 to 17 years |
Impetigo |
1 year and over |
Infected insect bites and stings |
1 year and over |
Sore throats |
5 years and over |
Sinusitis |
12 years and over |
Uncomplicated urinary tract |
Women 16 to 64 years |
Shingles |
18 years and over |
A summary of the service is available as an animation and more information can also be found at nhs.uk/thinkpharmacyfirst as well as at https://www.boots.com/healthhub/a-z-services/pharmacy-first.
Community Pharmacy England, who represent community pharmacy owners in England, have created a suite of resources for use by schools; you can use any that would suit your methods of communication with parents/carers to raise awareness of this important service. Resources include:
ü Downloadable posters which can be displayed in reception/waiting areas or staff rooms.
ü Downloadable flyers which could be included in school bags or left in reception/waiting area.
ü Digital screen options which could be played if you have a digital screen in your reception/waiting area.
ü Template news stories that could be included on your school website or in newsletters; and
ü Template letter to email out to parents/carers highlighting the Pharmacy First service.
All these resources are available at cpe.org.uk/infopharmacyservices
Staying Safe on the Roads in Winter
Please click here to read the latest newsletter from the Education Road Safety Transport Team, Way 2 Go, which includes lots of helpful information and advice about how to stay safe on the roads during winter.
Weenie Warblers Baby and Toddler group would like to invite you to join us on Friday mornings during term time. We are a small parent run group welcoming parents, grandparents and carers with their children under school age.
You can find us in the Great Wilbraham Village Hall between 9.15-11.45 with toys, books, tea & biscuits (main selling point for some of the toddlers!), and a chance for both children and adults to socialise.
There is a small charge of £1.50 per family to keep us running and the biscuits in stock. Please also share with local parents of children under school age who may not have older siblings at school that may like somewhere different to try on a Friday morning.
We look forward to seeing you there.
